CHINA EARTHQUAKE

The Earthquake on May 12, 2008 happened in Sichuan was devastative, many parents lost their children, many children lost their parents, thousands of families lost their homes.

CCIPA has joined other communities to raise funds for the relief efforts and aid to survivors. We are overwhelmed and deeply touched to have received $8,000 from members and friends in just 2 days.

During our AGM dinner on June 20, 2008, we have organized another fundraising auction. Items were donated by our fellow directors, and members and friends have been active in bidding. We have collected another $2,000 that night.

The total of $10,000 has now been forwarded to The Canadian Red Cross. All personal donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the Federal Government, so each dollar you have donated becomes two.

Special thanks to David Cheng, who not only has initiated the fundraising events and has donated generously, but has even gone personally to some brokerages to pledge for donations, James Hui, who was the first to react by grouping the entire Broker Team to come up with a handsome amount of donation, and Louis Luk who has kindly agreed to top our donation up to $10,000 even when he was travelling in Japan during our AGM.
