HAITI EARTHQUAKE

We have joined the Canadian relief efforts for the quake-ravaged Haiti

The Jan 12 earthquake at Haiti killed as many as 300,000 and left another 1,500,000 homeless. Just as we have come together at times of crisis in the past, CCIPA, together with some 60 organizations, has helped to raise funds for the Haiti relief efforts. Our members have been very generous and the response was overwhelmingly touching. We have collected $9,000 in less than a week and the monies have been forwarded to the Canadian Red Cross, the World Vision and the Doctors Without Borders as directed by the donors. These monies have been matched dollar for dollar by the Federal Government, so each dollar donated has become two.

A special thanks to David Cheng who not only has initiated the fund raising event and has donated generously, but he has gone all his way to various brokerages to pledge and collect the funds.
